Hemimorphite is a hydrated zinc silicate mineral that is commonly found in the oxidized zones of zinc and lead ore deposits. A rare mineral, Hemimorphite forms with different crystal terminations (the end of a crystal face) on each side of a single crystal. Notable occurrences include China, Mexico, the United States, Namibia, and Australia.

This unique minerals' colour ranges from whites to sea blue and sea green, though it can also occur in white, colorless, or yellowish varieties. The mineral often forms as botryoidal (rounded, grape-like clusters) or stalactitic masses. It can also occur as prismatic or tabular crystals. The blue color of hemimorphite is attributed to the presence of copper ions.

Hemimorphite is valued for its attractive color and is sometimes used as a gemstone in jewelry. Its name is derived from the Greek words "hemi," meaning half, and "morph," meaning shape, referring to the hemimorphic crystal structure of the mineral.
