Black Tourmaline is found in Brazil, Africa, Pakistan, Maine, and other countries.  Tourmaline forms  deep under ground in voids that are rich in different minerals.  Tourmaline has a prismatic crystal habit and usually has striations that run parallel to one another, and it can range from a few millimetres to a few meters in length. Tourmaline can also have triangular and rounded cross-sections and can be found with or within many other minerals. One common example is when it is found in needle-like formations running through quartz, this is then called Tourmalinated Quartz, which will have properties of both Quartz and Black Tourmaline.

Black Tourmaline is regarded, by the metaphysical believers as a top protection stone, while also very useful for purifying and dispelling negative energies.
