Obsidian often exhibits conchoidal fracture patterns, meaning it breaks with smooth, curved surfaces resembling the inside of a seashell. This unique fracture pattern is a result of the volcanic glass lacking any crystalline structure, allowing it to fracture in a smooth, curved manner.
