Rhodochrosite is found in the silver mines of Romania, the Banded Rhodochrosite in mined in Argentina and the USA. It is a manganese carbonate mineral of the Calcite group. Rarely transparent, usually opaque, raspberry pink to rose-red coloured gemstone with white bands, or lines. Rarely it can be found in the pink-red colour range, also yellowish, orange or brown. Often confused with Rhodonite, you can tell the difference between them as Rhodonite is a darker pink and usually contains black lines or specks. The Rhodochrosite is usually a lighter pink with white lines or specks.
