Selenite is a crystallized form of opaque Gypsum that is usually white, but at times may be orange in colour. It is an abundant stone that has a milky sheen that illuminates from the surface. While it is found in a few countries, Selenite with the best healing properties come out of Mexico, where it is mined in deep, very hot caves. Formed in clay beds or around hot springs, the vibrations from Selenite seem to flow like water and it is a very programmable crystal that is used for good luck and protection. Selenite has a low hardness level of 2 on the Mohs scale (it can be scratched with a fingernail), but what it lacks in strength, it makes up in its metaphysical properties.

Often used as a light bringing element in the home; as lamps, centrepieces, slabs, or other ornamental uses. Selenite window panes have been used in the famous Santa Sabina in Rome. 

As soon as one holds Selenite in their hands, one can feel the soft, high vibrations travelling up the arms, to the heart, then the head; activating the Third Eye and the Crown Chakras. Once the energies have connected with the higher Chakras, it opens, clears and activates these and fills them with pure high vibrating energies. Place a piece of Selenite among your gemstones to keep them cleansed and activated. Use gemstones along a Selenite wand to produce a rainbow effect; use the colours associated with the Chakras. Position and glue them on the wand to use as on all Chakras. Selenite is very beneficial in crystal grids, to amplify the other crystals or gemstones. When meditating with Selenite palm stones, you can repeat a mantra such as “I take in the light, I am the light”.  Focus on white light coming down from the heavens, into your Crown Chakra, filling your entire body. Then use the mantra “I am peace, I am light”. You will reach a meditative state very quickly and therefore can use this for a short or longer session. You may repeat this meditation every morning and every night. Especially beneficial when going through a crisis situation or a long period of stress.
