Shiva Lingam
Shiva Lingams are found in one place only, the Narmada River in Western India, which is one of India’s most holy sites. These gemstones have been an integral part of the Hindu worship for hundreds of years. Shiva Lingam are formed from a Cryptocrystalline Quartz and iron oxide, ranging in colour patterns of brown, red or grey stripes, spots or patches. The combination of these two minerals, occurred when a meteorite fell millions of years ago.
Some Shiva Lingam gemstones occur naturally in the shape of an elongated egg. Others are hand polished by locals of the area. The shape is believed to be a phallic representation of the Hindu God Shiva and his union with Kali. It is also believed to represent the shape of the cosmic egg, out of which all creation has emerged.
Working with Shiva Lingam will intensify one’s vitality and level of pranic energy. It is believed that as it stimulates the pineal gland, it assists with visions and one's connection with Creator.
These gemstones carry a strong feeling of divinity and sacredness, assisting one’s journey to enlightenment. Use Shiva Lingam at the Heart Chakra to assist with the connection of the Higher Heart Chakra to the Divine Mind. Shiva Lingam is a wonderful gemstone to assist with forgiveness and overcome the need to judge others. It assists in uniting people in community.
